The Greenville Bears traveled to western Missouri to defend last year’s title at the Seymour Fall Invitational. The Bears faced off against the host-team of Seymour Tigers and won the game in 6 innings 14-4 with Grant Miller and Cody Jackson on the mound.
In the second game Friday evening, the Bears faced the Crane Pirates and held off a late inning surge to win 11-8 with Trynt Tompkins getting the win early, Cody Jackson commanding the middle innings and Trey McDaniel picking up the save in the 7th.
On Saturday, the Bears took the field against Mansfield Lions for the championship. Tompkins again took the mound and went six innings and a score of 3-1. McDaniel again came in to close the 7th and faced 4 batters striking out 3 while one reached on an error.
The Bears record moved to 18-0 with three games remaining in the regular season. All games will be played at Greenville. Monday versus Lesterville, Tuesday versus East Carter and Friday versus cross-county rival Clearwater.
